Area Business Spotlight: The Catskill Pines (Mount Tremper, NY)
Along a slightly windy road in what feels like someone’s own home lives the a new restaurant, bar and event space called the Catskill Pines. Once home to Tiso’s Trattoria, a much beloved Mount Tremper eatery, The Pines has emerged as a meeting space for those who love amazing food, delicious coffee and great music.
Created by Jeremy Bernstein, a Woodstock-born musician who performs as Burnell Pines, the space is beautifully decorated with an eclectic selection of vintage and contemporary items including a stunning organ that takes up an entire wall of the main space, the location where instruments are set up for the variety of local talents that have graced the place with music since the early days of its opening. The hallway and bathrooms are uniquely decorated by local artist Will Lytle, also known as Thorneater Comics, who has created a masterpiece of cultural and personal references represented by stunning illustrations all done by hand directly on the wall.
The Pines has recently joined forces with the talents of Craig Thompson, also known as Shandaken Bake, who is starting to make mornings magic with a variety of baked goods available in the coffee bar area of the restaurant. They are also currently taking special orders for pies and other sweet treats. There are plans to expand into a regular schedule of breakfast, lunch and brunch. Visitors to the Pines are raving about their dinner menu, currently offered Thursdays through Sundays. In addition to the variety of parties, live music, and karaoke nights, the restaurant is offering themed meals like Ethiopian night while the regular menu is establishing life-long fans of The Pines with every bite.
As with any new restaurant, the menu and hours are constantly evolving, but if you are looking for a fantastic experience right off of Route 28 in Ulster County, we highly recommend giving this rustic bar, restaurant and lounge a try.
