Deirdre Day grew up in houses under construction-- going to open houses on Sunday afternoons and poring over the real estate listings, just for the fun of it. From the rowhouse outside London where she was born, to her current 1870 project in Rosendale, NY, she has moved from each home with an ever-deepening understanding of houses and why we love them (and sometimes hate them).

Although she took paths away from real estate---getting a BA in Semiotics from Brown University, a Masters in Creative Writing from NYU and a doctorate in English from CUNY’s Graduate Center, she always obsessed about houses. The love of homes which was then just an obsession and not a job, carried her through multiple careers (from advertising copywriter to college professor) and multiple houses. From an 1850 foreclosure in Montclair, New Jersey to an 1870 foreclosure in Rosendale, NY, she has carried with her an ever-deepening understanding of the mechanics and the aesthetics of houses.  Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Salon and many other publications and her art has been shown in galleries through the Northeast.

As a real estate agent in the Catskills/Hudson Valley she finds happiness in matching homes with the right owners.
