Catskills Culinary Spotlight: Tavern 214

Opening its doors in August 2013, Tavern 214 in Phoenicia reinvents itself each season with a menu that celebrates the incredible resources of the Catskill Mountains. Owners Peter and Vivian Diaz pride themselves on a strong “farm-to-table” philosophy, an incredible wine list and craft beers and cocktails utilizing the farms, distilleries and breweries of the area as often as possible for sourcing what is served.

Tavern 214 has a cozy, comfortable atmosphere including a fire place for those chilly Catskills evenings in any season. The food could be best described as classic American comfort food inspired with highlights being the Lobster Mac and Cheese, Fennel Sausage and Peppers, Caprese Sliders and the Greenanne Farm Local Heritage Pork Chop which, according to Yelp reviews, has changed the way people eat pork chops as they will forever chase the elusive taste of this succulent chop.

Whether stopping by for a craft cocktail, a bite of one of their small plates or a full meal, Tavern 214 is an absolute must on any culinary tour of the Catskills.

When dining out in the Catskills, we always recommend a reservation.
