Fall Fruit You Can Pick Yourself

Apples and pumpkins are among the true tastes of fall and what better way to enjoy the great outdoors than to pick your own delicious fall fruit. Below are some of the local farms that offer you the opportunity to pick-your-own.

COOPERSTOWN AREA

Middlefield Orchard

Middlefield Orchard is a 130 acre fruit and vegetable farm that borders Cherry Valley Creek. They have a wide assortment of fruits and vegetables available to pick, but at this time of year the focus is on their many varieties of apples as well as pumpkins and raspberries. Open until the end of October, closed on Sundays.

Pick your own, including 20 plus varieties of apples, 5 varieties of pears, and plums throughout the fall season. Fresh sweet cider and apple cider donuts made every weekend. They have pumpkins too!

DELAWARE COUNTY

Echo Orchard & Farm

Stop by the Echo Orchard & Farm farm stand from 10:30 to 7pm until November 1st to find pumpkins, apples, cider, cider donuts, honey, syrup and pumpkin lattes. They will have pumpkins ready to go as well as opportunities to pick pumpkins.

Maplewood Farm & Orchard

Maplewood Farm & Orchard offers pumpkin picking in the pumpkin patch! The maple sugar house and shoppe is also open, offering baked goods, pies, fresh eggs, cream, candy, many other maple products. Apple and Pumpkin picking takes place on weekends from September 18th until Columbus Day, October 11th.

Sunrise Mountain Orchard

Sunrise Mountain Orchard is a boutique “pick-your-own” apple orchard with hundreds of trees in this young orchard which have reached bearing age. The orchard will be open on weekends beginning September 12, 2021 for “you-pick.”

The Cunningham family’s pumpkin patch is open again for you to come on down and find the perfect pumpkin for fall decorating and carving. You can also have fun exploring their corn maze, searching for treasure in The Lost Irishman’s Mine, go on a hayride, test yourself on their obstacle course, or just pick up some fall goods in the farm store.

Majestic Farm offers a wide variety organically grown apples that you can pick yourself. Their U-Pick season opens September 18th and you can come by every Saturday and Sunday 10a-4p or reserve your own off-hours time on their website.

DB Orchards grows apples, pears, peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, apricots and a wide variety of vegetables with care in Wallkill and Highland New York. Their Walkill farm offer U-pick apple picking on Saturdays and Sunday.

This family-owned and operated fruit farm is currently open for apple picking until October 31 on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00an to 4:30pm. Visit their farm stand for fresh produce, apple cider and cider donuts!

Wright’s Farm

Wright’s Farm’s roadside farm market is open year round and carries a huge selection of homemade baked goods, including pies, cookies, fruit breads, and their famous apple cider donuts. They are open for picking your own apples seven days a week during September and October.
