Spotlight on The Clubhouse Restaurant & Bar at The Shandaken Inn

Originally built in the late 1920s as the clubhouse for the once popular Rip Van Winkle Golf Course, Shandaken Inn has been welcoming guests to the northern Catskills for almost one hundred years.

Paying homage to the once famous Rip Van Winkle Club, Shandaken Inn’s restaurant and bar is named after the original golf clubhouse. Legend has it that John Philip Sousa wrote the music to one of his many compositions on the back of the club’s subscription card.

Featuring a hearty yet simple cuisine crafted from the freshest seasonal produce and sourced by the region’s most notable artisans, purveyors, and farmers. From small, shareable plates and sides to wholesome entrees, sweets, and craft cocktails, the restaurant’s menu rotates daily, based on seasonal and market availability.

Executive Chef Robert Escalante gained experience at top restaurants across the country from Los Angeles to New York. His deep understanding and appreciation for working with seasonal vegetables and ethically raised heritage ingredients are reflected in his dishes.

The Clubhouse Bar offers local beer on tap as well as regional wine, beer, cider and spirits.
