Agricultural acreage with a history. Topography boasting multiple SOUTHERN VISTAS, pastures, MULTIPLE BUILDING SITES, trails, VIEWS, rivers, streams... both old & new found dreams.
(Phenomenal history dating back to 1800's & ties to KRAFT CO.- at end of description)
These, once-whole, 145 ACRES got divided when the town paved through with installation of both Upcounty & Waterman Rd.
63 acres of unparalleled potential to the east, 58 acres hosting the 3 structures to the west, & 24 acres between the roads offering sweeping southern views from the top of the pasture & unspoiled land meant for a vista.
To the North: ~21 acres of sloping meadow & forest. This partly cleared parcel has a wide breadth of opportunity. Recreation or new formation with breathtaking all encompassing views.
To the East: on these 63 acres you'll find foundational remnants of the Deckers' original Dutch Colonial home. Leveling out to an idyllic BUILDING SITE with south facing PANORAMIC MOUNTAIN & VALLEY VIEWS!! Daunting at first glance the hillside seems almost inaccessible. However, if you know where to look, a gently sloped trail meanders up the mountain. Catch SUNRISE to SUNSET on a hilltop of history while no one knows you're there...
To The West: ~60 acres & 3 structures
One lovingly restored 1800's BARN furnished with a NEW ROOF & structural reinforcements done by the current owners. The dutch built beauty was originally located on the eastern hilltop & relocated to the river/roadside as the Decker's Dairy business grew. This beast of a barn is ready to carry history from the 1800's into the foreseeable future.
One well preserved old style home portraying a more recent history of the property's life; filled with relics from the the 60's it stands frozen in time. Status of the well & septic systems are relatively unknown. However, ELECTRIC poles have recently been replaced & lines are still running to the home.
One workshop/shed between the home & barn.
Behind the structures you'll find the effervescent, mineral rich Schenevus Creek. Adding to the history, this rivulet feeds into the well known & OLDEST RIVER IN THE WORLD, The Susquehanna.
Once upon a farm in 1841…these 143 acres were domicile to hundreds of cattle & the Decker Family Dairy Farm. Quickly recognized as THE best local dairy, soaring demand for the quality product required post-haste delivery & a partner. Local dairy distributors, the Slawson Brothers took note of their clients demand, thus the Slawson-Decker merger was formed.Their quality reputation soon reached NYC, where they partnered with the notable Sheffield Farms; becoming Sheffield Farms-S-D CO. A dairy CO. that pasteurized, bottled, and delivered milk in New York City in the first half of the 20th century, selling 20% of the city's milk. Sheffield Farms- S-D was sold in the 60’s to the National Dairy Products Corp., presently known as KRAFT! Founded in1841, the T.W Decker Company is still credited as the oldest partner & pioneer of the modern milk industry.
